This extremely rare Mid-Century Modern adjustable salon barber or chair is a variation of the iconic Pretzel Chair Designed by Norman Cherner in 1958.
The famous Pretzel Chair, with black leather upholstery and a warm walnut finish, was fitted with a hydraulic base with adjustable lever and foot rest by the American Atelier inc. company (who purchased Plycraft company in 1970).
This variation of the Cherner Pretzel Chair is in excellent vintage condition, with all original parts in near mint condition, and working pump hydraulics and foot lever and foot rest. No rips or tears in the leather upholstery. The finish on the bentwood arms and back shows slight wear in several places, shown in photos. The chrome shows patina commensurate with age.
